After 5 weeks away from school and the students, I am ready to get back into the classroom. We have a very busy Monday schedule - celebrating Chinese New Year, introducing a new language arts theme and beginning a new math topic. Please read my weekly update for more information.
Please have your children drop off their backpacks at K5 at 7:55am. We are having an LCH “community gathering” (see the special note that will come home today) and I will escort children just before 8am. Alternatively, you can just meet us outside of rooms 405 and 406 at 8am. Thank you.
This should be read every Monday. It will help you to know what is going on in the academic classroom, and tell you about any special activities or needs we have. Thank you.
Hi,
If you have any of the following that you could spare, would you please send it in. Thank you.
* white tissue paper (by this Thursday!)
* bright acrylic paints
* red and/or black crepe paper streamers
* paper towel rolls (empty)
Today is January 1, 2012. I sincerely hope that you all enjoyed this magical time with your children. I miss having little ones in the house for Christmas. That being said, I must admit, I am thrilled to be back with our little Kinders! I’ll see you all on Tuesday morning. Marlene Carter
Mrs. Carter and I would like to wish everyone a very joyous and healthy Christmas vacation. Thanks to all the moms, and dad, that came to our class party. The children had a fantastic time and took home lots of crafts and goodies. We loved all of the gifts from our students and parents. Individual “thank you” cards will be sent soon.
Best wishes for a wonderful 2012!
HSmith and MCarter
Your child’s first book bag was sent home today in their folder. Please read the letter in the bag and, hopefully, it will answer all of your questions. Keep the book at home for at least 3 days so that your child will have many opportunities to enjoy reading it. Many of the sentences in these books contain words we have been working on in class. If a book is too hard, please return it the next day and I will send home a new one.
I will not send a book bag home over the vacation.
Happy reading.
K5 students had a great week with our gingerbread man story and related activities. We have more great crafts to complete and hopefully our little gingerbread boy will not run away from our class again. He is very adventuresome and likes to seek out new places to hide and play.
Have a great weekend. If possible, please donate a paint pen for an upcoming holiday craft.
After a very long vacation, I am ready to return to work. Mrs. Carter did a fabulous job with our Thanksgiving program and the T-shirts (donated by Tram) were perfect. I have been preparing activities for the upcoming holidays and would like to know if any K5 families celebrate Hanukkah. If so, please let me know.
Our holiday party is in the planning stages. I will be meeting with our room mons to finalize our plans. They will be asking for volunteers as well as donated items.
Special thanks go out to Dylan’s mom, Kristi. She created a new “word wall”, which will help children be able to correctly write high frequency (sight) words and other often used words. Thanks for all of your hard work!
